Lace and Elegance

Elegant wedding in a German Castle

The moment I saw this dress, that was it for me!!! I was totally besotted with this dress, I'm not even sure that I can use the word besotted in line with a wedding dress, but nevertheless, you get the idea!! This dress was to me, absolute perfection!! The lace, the elegance, the lines, the way the dress fitted Daniela!! Sheer perfection!!

This was a day like no other! We started off early in the morning, capturing all the little moments of Daniela getting ready and getting dressed! We had fun photographing Christopher who was totally cool and laid back!

Capturing their portraits was also so easy!! Very little direction was required from me, their looks of love, Daniela gazing up at her Prince, all of that made it so easy to capture the love and beauty which surrounded us throughout the day!!

“I choose you. And I’ll choose you over and over and over. Without pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you.!

A Photoshoot with a senior dog called Quintus!

A Photoshoot with a senior dog called Quintus!

Family shoot with a difference!

I love doing shoots where fur babies are included, but sometimes, there's a shoot which touches me more than others, simply because I understand that the photos which I am going to produce, are going to be treasured because in a little while, one of the models may not be around. This was one of those shoots!

Quintus is a beautiful senior citizen, 14 years old, who unfortunately is suffering with terminal cancer! A few months back, Quintus was diagnosed with a cancerous growth in his paw! This was subsequently removed, and all was well for a time. Then during August this year, at a routine examination, a rather large lump was found in his neck, almost the size of a half a tennis ball! The vet has advised "his mother" that the growth is in the lymph nodes and sadly, the cancer seems to be a very aggressive cancer and is fast growing.

Photoshoot with Ramses (and Yvonne and Tom) !!

Family shoot with a difference!

Those of you who know me, and know me well, senior dogs have an extra special place in my heart, so while I was in Cape Town and was advised that I had been booked for a photo shoot with a senior fur baby on my return to Germany, you can imagine how thrilled I was!!

Puppies are wonderful, no doubt about it, but senior dogs have that extra special something, which a puppy still has to "grow into!" Dogs have always held a special place in my heart, from a small child playing with the dogs in our street, to growing older and always wanting a dog of my own, till I eventually "found" my soul dog Abby, and being granted the privilege of sharing in her life for 14 wonderful years! So as you can imagine, being granted the honour of doing a photoshoot with Rameses, also 14 years old and also suffering with his hips, this was a shoot which I knew was going to be extra special and one which would touch me deeply!

Ramses, as the name may have hinted to you, was born on the streets in Egypt, (I'm not exactly sure where) and having spent his first 11 months fending for himself, he was finally rescued and brought to Germany, where he found his forever home with Yvonne and Tom, and Yvonne and Tom, found their soul dog! Yvonne mentioned to me that she always wanted a dog who would run up to her, wagging his tail furiously when she returned from work, but with Ramses, this pure act of excitement and love took a bit of time!! Granted he did come to her, he wagged his tail, but then he would go off and continue to do his own thing, simply ignoring her!! A dog growing up on the street sees the world and humans in it differently and with love and time and patience, Ramses finally felt relaxed enough and secure enough to know that Yvonne and Tom, were going to be HIS family, and that love, and food, and shelter, were no longer to be begged for, to be fought for, and perhaps given for a brief moment in time, but finally, all these wonderful things had finally become his!!

Ramses is simply put a beautiful fur baby!

Go ahead and enjoy the photos!!

Love amongst the vines!!

Bride with a beautiful lace wedding dress

Love, emotions, romance, and fun, are some of the words which I can use to describe Maren and Michael's wedding! I simply loved this wedding, and of course, I loved shooting in the vineyards and who would have thought that doing a bridal shoot in a wheat field could be so stunning!

Have a look at these bridal portraits, and did I mention that I loved Maren's beautiful dress!! The fine lines, the delicate lace, all contributing to how stunning Maren looked!!

Couple shoot amongst ancient oak trees

Sometimes without really knowing the couple, you have the feeling that you are meeting two hearts, two souls who are just simply destined to be together!! So it was with Alisa, and Heiko! The flow between these two, the looks, the syncing of hearts beating, the coming together without me having to direct the two,it was simply bearing witness to magic!

These are the couples who make my day, who make it worthwhile to go out on a Sunday afternoon, to leave my family behind and to go out and be a witness to the magic which these two create with their raw emotions which they were not afraid to show!

Gorgeous couple shoot in Darmstadt, Germany

I love couple shoots!!! There is nothing finer than bearing witness to a couple in love, be it a couple who have been together for many, many years, or a couple who have just met and are learning to savour those moments where your heart beats faster, where you are lost for words because of the sheer joy at knowing that you have found "the one!"

That's what it was like during the shoot which I did for Maike and Domenic! I didn't have to direct them, their shoot simply unfolded in front of my eyes

Intimate wedding on an early winters day

Winter wedding in Germany!

Early December in Germany can be a very dark day also bringing a lot of snow with it, but all brides are just meant to have the perfect day, and Simone was not to be denied this either! Early December, Simone said her vows with her best friend and soul mate, Reinhard, in what was a small intimate wedding, with Catchlight Image doing the honours in terms of capturing their special moments!

Beatrice and Peter

Wedding in Germany!

Beatrice and Peter asked me to photograph their wedding after having come to know me when I photographed Beatrice's daughter and her family a few years back!! She told me that after seeing her granddaughters photos, she decided there and then, when she and Peter set a date, she would definitely want me to photograph a wedding!! Of course you can imagine how happy I was to hear that!! Meeting Peter and Beatrice was a wonderful time because they were so excited to show me around their cottage which they had completely revamped, taking their time to source every minute detail which would be used to change what was initially a very old and very rundown cottage to what they now turned it into!! A beautiful, tastefully designed cottage with hidden nooks and crannies where one could relax and have a direct view to their gorgeous little garden, which would be the backdrop for their couple shoot on the day of the wedding!! Every little detail which you see in the background of the couple shoot photos, was a little gem found by Beatrice, even down to the old bicycle!!

Early summer wedding in Germany!

Gorgeous wedding televised on German TV

Can you imagine my excitement and surprise after sorting out the details for this gorgeous wedding, to hear that this wedding was actually going to be televised on German national television!!! Sina and Thorsten told me during out initial meeting that they had entered a competition in order to win their dream honeymoon and that I would have some competition jostling for the prime position in order to photograph them as there would be a tv crew at the wedding as well!!!

The day dawned and while stress levels were high, nails were being bitten, the moment when Sina actually arrived at the Church, all of the previous stress was forgotten as I can honestly say that Sina looked every inch a Princess walking up the aisle to meet her Prince! Her dress was simply stunning, and her Prince looked elegant!!

I so enjoyed photographing this young couple, as one could literally feel, "that love was all around!"

Fun Family shoot

Family shoot in Germany

A couple of weeks back I was asked to do a family shoot for Hamid and his beautiful family! They were going through some of their old photos, and had recently bought a new photo frame and had an idea to put a photo of each one of them into the frame, BUT the big problem was that they did not have have recent photos!!! Hence the decision to do a family shoot!! As life changes on a daily basis, and each member of the family is normally so busy, how wonderful was it, that they grabbed the opportunity to have new photos taken for their new photo frame!! Too many times, people place having new photos taken on the back burner simply because they have "no time" or it's something "you can do tomorrow" but sometimes, tomorrow never comes!!
