Jayde and Jody in Hermanus, South Africa

Engagement shoot in Hermanus

A few weeks back, I had the pleasure of meeting Jayde and Jody in order to discuss their wedding arrangements as well as to do their couple shoot!! I love doing couple shoots before a wedding as that way we get to know each other and get to have some relaxed fun before the stress of the big day arrives!!

We met in Hermanus and decided to do our shoot in the old harbour which provided a wonderful backdrop for our photos!! Jayde and Jody were wonderful in front of the camera, and I so look forward to their wedding!!

Have a look at their photos and see for yourself!!

Model shoot with Noel in Cape Town

Cape Town model shoot

During one of my trips home to Cape Town, i made contact with Noel who was keen to do a shoot since he was going to be in Cape Town at the same time!! Model shoots are something which I really enjoy doing and sadly find that I don't do enough of!! So just a quick hint, if you are a model, wannbe model and would like to work with me, then please contact me!!

Table Mountain as a backdrop

The day which was scheduled for our shoot which was initially meant to be at one of Cape Town's gorgeous beaches, turned out to be a windy day.....actually it turned out to be a mega windy day, the kind of day where if you are wearing a dress or skirt, you definitely need weights in your hemline to keep from flashing your undies to all and sundry!! So after meeting at the beach it was decided that unless we wanted to be constantly chewing on sand, it would be best to move the shoot and drive to Table Mountain and have the gracious old lady as a mega backdrop!!

Noel, my model, did an amazing job trying to keep his composure while battling howling winds, Amber, our make up artist did an awesome job, while not only watching that our equipment stayed safe but that Noel and I did not get run over by any tourist buses while shooting along Table Mountain road!!

Model: Noel Schmidt

Make up artist: Amber Brandt (amberbrandt0@gmail.com)

Belts: Handmade by C-Squadron (csquadronleather@gmail.com

Introducing Alet!

Fun shoot in Kleinmond South Africa!

A little while back I had the pleasure of photographing Alet on Kleinmond Beach in the Western Cape, South Africa!!

From the first moment, Alet was an absolute natural in front of the camera and we had a lot of fun together producing these photos, whether we were playing with scarves, or simply running back from the waters edge to avoid being splashed by the waves, we simply had FUN!!!

Summer shoot from South Africa to Germany

One of the things which I love most about my job, besides of course getting to meet so many great people, is that I am able to travel and capture summer in Cape Town, before heading north again and eventually capturing summer in Germany!!

Look forward to capturing YOU in front of my camera soon!!

Enjoy seeing Alet on Kleinmond Beach!

xoxo

The Aubrey du Preez Memorial Shoot 0.1

So if you have read my "From the heart" page, then you will understand how important the shoot which are you looking at, is! I always choose to present the photos from the "Aubrey du Preez Memorial shoot" in black and white, as besides being my favourite medium, I also believe that black and white captures more emotion than colour photos!! That being said, I do however choose to have one photo in colour and that one photo, to me, represents hope and the future!! This is also always the last photo in the gallery!

Below is an extract of Andra's story in her own words!

"Hi everyone. My name is Andra and I would like to share my story with you.

In 2012, 33 years old, I was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer. Because of other reasons I had to do a laparoscopy and the doctors found out about the cancer by accident. As I didn’t have any pain , it would have grown without any notice. After the doctors also identified lymph metastases in my thorax I underwent chemotherapy for the next 3 years. That sounds pretty long and awful, but it was well-tolerated and I didn't have much pain. Parallel I did and still do a lot of homeopathy treatments to strengthen my immune system. It helped very much to cope with the adverse reaction and against all expectations I didn’t lose my hair. This fact helped me a lot, because people didn’t recognize that I was sick on the first sight.  Of course I stopped working and focused 100% on my health. In August 2015 I decided to give my body a break. By then the tumor didn’t show any activity and had not grown. Now I have check-ups every 3 month and hope everything stays like this.

Of course I was in shock, when I found out that I have cancer, but from the start I was very positive that I will beat it. Before I found out everything in my life worked out like I planned it but at this point my body told me to STOP. My immune system was down, and I didn’t pay enough attention to my health. This has changed!

At the moment I enjoy my life to the fullest and try to use every day. Even if the disease is very bad, it has given me a lot of positive moments. That might sound odd, but whenever I could, I used my spare time to do things for which I had no time before the disease. For example I started to join an acting class, which I hadn’t done since High School.

Four and a half years after the diagnosis cancer I’m very fortunate to be around and I would like to thank Gayle for her passion to photography and her opportunity to take part in “The Aubrey du Preez Memorial Shoot”.

Never stop fighting!"
